VIJAYALAKSHMI RAJARAM IYER
Independent Director
Ms. Vijayalakshmi Rajaram Iyer is an Independent Director on the Board of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited. She served as the Chairperson and Managing Director of Bank of India with significant overseas presence and superannuated from Bank of India after serving the banking industry for nearly four decades. She has held the position of Member – Finance & Investment at Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Hyderabad from June 2015 to May 2017 and holds directorship in various financial institutions including ARC and ICICI Securities Ltd.
She is the recipient of the “Best Banker” award at the India SME Excellence Awards – 2013, and MSME Excellence Award from the Deputy Chairperson, Planning Commission, Government of India during her tenure with Bank of India. She is also the recipient of Golden Peacock HR Excellence Award – 2012 for best HR practices at Central Bank of India.
She spearheaded the implementation of Core Banking Solution across 22 countries, expanding the Bank’s operations in Botswana, Auckland, Vietnam and Myanmar. She possesses extensive experience of 20 years in handling the credit function across segments including Retail, SME, Large Corporates and Project & Infrastructure Financing as a Processing Officer. She has spearheaded the implementation of IT security systems, IT Governance and Audit in Union Bank of India. She was instrumental in introducing and redefining various policies, process and systems for credit market and operational risk management.
She has been invited as a Speaker in Annual Meeting of the World Bank, forums at Harvard Business School and investor conferences across overseas centres of Banks.
