Sri Sarfaraz Ahmad, IAS, is a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service from theTelangana cadre with a B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He has served the Telanganagovernment in several key positions, including Municipal Commissioner of Warangal, District Collector ofKarimnagar, Commissioner of Prohibition & Excise, and Joint Chief Electoral Officer.
Presently as the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, he is heading the mega Hyderabad Metro Rail project. He also holds important roles as the Metropolitan Commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Managing Director of Hyderabad Growth CorridorLimited, and Project Director of the Outer Ring Road. His career reflects a strong dedication to effectivegovernance and public service.
Sri Sarfaraz Ahmad has been honoured with multiple prestigious awards for his exemplary work, including the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2018) for outstanding implementation of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, the Telangana Excellence Award(2018), the National Award for Successful Implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padao, the State Award for best performance in TS-iPASS, and a Special Award for Election Management in 2023 conferred by PresidentDraupadi Murmu for his significant contributions to electoral roll management in Telangana.
