Mr. Dip Kishore Sen is handling the portfolio of Development Projects, Minerals & Metals, L&T Special Steels & Heavy Forgings, L&T - SuFin, Nabha Power, Hyderabad Metro and L&T Aviation in Larsen & Toubro (L&T). He is also on the boards of many subsidiary companies of L&T.
Mr. Sen is a Civil Engineering graduate from IIT Kharagpur and a post graduate in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur. Prior to joining L&T, he worked for 12 years with Tata Steel, Jamshedpur, M/s. Development Consultants, Kolkata and in a turnkey EPC Transmission line project in Malaysia for M/s HGEC, India.
Mr. Sen joined L&T in 1989 as a Sr. Manager (Design) and subsequently headed EDRC (Civil & Structural Design), Kolkata, Project Manager - Safal F&V Auction Market Project, Bangalore, Sector Project Manager (B&F) - Kolkata, Regional Manager - Mumbai, Project Director - Mumbai International Airport and Head - Transportation Infrastructure (TI). His uniqueness is in his versatility of having worked across domains like Design & Engineering, Business Development, Tendering and Construction.
His role as Project Director of the highly complex brownfield mega Mumbai International Airport project was the most notable achievement in his career as he oversaw its most critical phase of upgrading the airport to a 4.5 million passenger per annum capacity on the same footprint while the airport continued to operate and grow consistently.
Mr. Sen took over as Head - Transportation Infrastructure business in 2011 to spearhead the construction of roads, airports and railways. Under his leadership, the business completed several high value projects both in India and overseas and established its dominance by securing major highway / expressway and airport projects. Also, several major breakthroughs were achieved in the railways sector, especially in large Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) projects in India, Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects in Mauritius and Metro project (Electrical & Mechanical package) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He has also played a very prominent role in establishing L&T in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries by securing and executing several landmark projects, notable among which are the Mafraq - Ghweifat Road Project, the Abu Dhabi International Airport, railways job in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and secured many urban infra development projects in Qatar, Oman and UAE.
Apart from his considerable professional credentials, he is also a member of the Curriculum Advisory Committee of post graduate course in infrastructure at IIT Kharagpur. He is also recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award - 2022 from IIT Kharagpur.
Mr. Sen is in the Board of several industry bodies, e.g., Chairman in Board of Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI), Chairman for National Council for Roads, Highways & Transportation in ASSOCHAM, Member in CII Infrastructure Committee, and Member in the Board of Governors in First Construction Council (FCC). He is also associated with various industry organizations like FICCI, National Highways Builders’ Federation (NHBF), Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC), Construction Federation of India (CFI), Bengal Chambers of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I), CII Australia-India Joint Working Group (JWG), UAE-India Council, etc. He is also Director of L&T Employee Trust and S3V Vascular Technologies Ltd.
